By Healing Vocals in Collaboration with Sisters4Islam
On Thursday, June 12th, we had the pleasure of joining together for a beautiful walk that was both spiritually and physically enriching. The morning was filled with laughter, reflection, and a deeper connection with Allah’s creation. Sisters, alongside their children, spent the time immersed in nature, drawing meaningful lessons from the world around them.
Time – A Gift from Allah
As we walked, we reflected on the concept of time, inspired by Surah Al-Asar:
وَالْعَصْرِ. إِنَّ الْإِنسَانَ لَفِي خُسْرٍ. إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا بِالصَّبْرِ
“By time, Indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.” (Surah Al-Asar)
We spoke about time, how, before the rise of technology, people relied on the sun’s shadow on a sundial to mark prayer times. As we reflected on the feeling of “not having enough time,” we discussed how we must choose wisely how to spend the time Allah has given us. Time is precious, each moment an opportunity to live in a way that brings us closer to Him. We also spoke about the imbalance many of us feel, too much time on mundane tasks versus meaningful, fulfilling activities, and the importance of finding balance in our lives.
The Buzzing Bees – A Reminder from Surah An-Nahl
As we continued on our walk, the sound of buzzing bees reminded us of Surah An-Nahl (The Bee). Allah speaks about the bee in verse 68 of this surah:
وَأَوْحَىٰ رَبُّكَ إِلَىٰ النَّحْلِ أَنْ اتَّخِذِي مِنَ الجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا وَمِنَ الشَّجَرِ وَمِمَّا يَعْرِشُونَ
“And your Lord inspired to the bee…” (Surah An-Nahl, 16:68)
We marveled at the vital role bees play in pollination, a process that sustains much of our natural ecosystem. We also spoke about the significance of honey, which has been cherished for its healing properties throughout history. The Quran itself reminds us of its value and the benefits it provides for humanity. Subhanallah, the humble bee continues to teach us lessons about preservation, service, and healing.

The Fig Tree – A Sacred Blessing from Allah
Further along our journey, we were blessed to stand before a fig tree. This reminded us of the sacred Surah At-Tin (The Fig), where Allah swears by the fig and the olive:
لَا أُقْسِمُ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ وَأَنْتَ حِلٌّ بِهَٰذَا الْبَلَدِ وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
“I swear by the fig and the olive…” (Surah At-Tin, 95:1)
As we recited these verses, a hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) came to mind: “Eat figs! If I were to say a certain type of fruit was sent down to us from the heavens, I would say it’s a fig because it has no seeds. It cures the piles and is useful for rheumatism.”
This fruit, revered for its benefits, serves as a symbol of Allah’s wisdom and care for us. The fig is more than just a fruit—it’s a divine blessing meant to nourish and heal. Subhanallah, the more we learn, the deeper our connection with nature grows.

Gratitude for Allah’s Creation
This walk was not just about the physical journey—it was an opportunity to reflect, connect, and learn. From the buzzing bees to the fig tree and the value of time, we were reminded of Allah’s signs in every corner of His creation.
We left the walk feeling grateful for the chance to be together, reflect on our faith, and connect with the world around us. Nature truly reflects Allah’s beauty, and it is our responsibility to cherish it.
Jazakum Allah Khair to all who joined us for this heartwarming day of reflection, learning, and connection.
