Importance of Zakat

Zakat is a form of alms-giving treated in Islam as a religious obligation or tax, which, by Quranic ranking, is next after prayer in importance. As one of the Five Pillars of Islam, zakat is a religious duty for all Muslims who meet the necessary criteria of wealth.

The recipients of Zakat include:
The poor, those in debt, the wayfarer, those in the cause of Allah (SWT), the needy, those whose hearts are to be reconciled (those who are new reverts or have an interest in Islam), to free those in captivity and those who collect and distribute Zakat payments.

Sisters4Islam for Islam has been actively campaigning for Zakat funds to be distributed amongst the families in need, these include widows, orphans, single-parent families, those in debt, etc. Applicant’s circumstances are usually assessed first before payments are made. Our charity relies on regular donations from the community to run this project.
