About Us
Welcome to Sisters4Islam
Sisters4Islam was founded in 2009 by Jamila Jones who moved from Bristol to Leicester in 2006.
The multicultural nature of Leicester drew her to the City where she sought to embrace the various characteristics of the Asian, Somali, East & West African, Arab and Caribbean communities.
Jamila was welcomed warmly by each of the groups but, what she felt was amiss and poignantly evident, was the lack of integration within these different communities.
Jamila felt that the communities were all in segregated pockets and often found it impossible for outsiders to penetrate the cultural barriers which caused a disconnect within Leicesters multi-ethnic communities.
Sisters4Islam was developed, based on the premise to unite and work together for the greater good of the community.
Our Mission
- To raise awareness and educate communities, our children, Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam.
- We strive to work together as one ummah rather than in separate communities. We can do so much more when we all work together.
Our Vision
- To unite communities from different backgrounds and promote community cohesion through various activities.
- To facilitate understanding and growth among diverse groups hence fostering harmony and peace while supporting and empowering the Muslim and non-Muslim communities in Leicester and surrounding cities.
Our Values
- To show integrity in our work by directing ourselves and others to what is right.
- Treat all people with dignity and respect regardless of culture and background.
- Embrace positive opportunities with responsibility and provide a service leadership of open communication and transparency.
- To have a continuous learning process, with constant improvement and commitment to quality.
